カーティス・ブロウ
1979年、若干20歳にして、カーティス・ブロウはメジャーレーベルと契約した初のラッパーアーティストとなった。彼のファーストトラック「Christmas Rappin」は40万枚のセールスを記録し、それに続く「The Breaks」はヒップホップ初のゴールドディスクに輝くなど、カーティスはラップミュージック界に多大なる影響を与えた。11年間で10枚のアルバムをリリースし、ヒップホップ界で最初のミリオネアとなったカーティスは、RUN DMCやFat Boys、Wyclef Jean、Russell Simmons等と共にトラック制作に打ち込んだ。1995年からはPower 106、そして後にSiriusでラジオDJを務めたカーティスは、2009年にキリスト教の聖職者に就任。現在も創始者メンバーの一員としてヒップホップ教会を全米に広める活動に取り組んでいる。

In 1979, at the age of 20, Kurtis Blow became the first rapper to be signed by a major label. His first track, "Christmas Rappin", sold over 400,000 copies, while his follow‑up "The Breaks" was the first hip hop record to go gold, and played a key role in turning rap music into an international phenomenon. He went on to release 10 Albums over 11 years, eventually becoming hip hop's first millionaire. Blow also became a producer, doing tracks for the likes of Run DMC, The Fat Boys, Wyclef Jean and Russell Simmons. Since 1995 he has also been working as a radio DJ, first on Power 106 and later for Sirius. In 2009 he became an ordained Christian minister. He is the co-founder of the Church of Hip-Hop, which has branches across the USA.
